Week of 1/16/22

Praise the Lord! Our YP have experienced the Lord this week! Here is a sharing by Sister Katherine:

I really enjoyed this week how near and dear the Lord is to us. Although in our daily lives we sometimes ignore Him or don’t feel His presence, we only need to turn to our spirit. This is particularly true in school when we talk to friends and learn. I’ve always wanted a best, best friend at school, someone you tell absolutely everything to that will understand, however, no one really understands and experiences what you go through except God. This week, I’ve learned that the Lord is my best friend and can be in all my other conversations with other friends as well, because he is always with me. All I have to do is open my heart. Praise the Lord!

This week, I also served the children and gained a lot through their meeting as well. They reviewed last week’s lesson about Elimelech (husband of Naomi) and I was really touched when they asked a question:

“For the past week, did you try to live your life according to God’s heart and God’s mind, when you thought differently in your own eyes?”

To be honest, this week I did not live according to God’s heart and mind. I acted on my own behalf when I lied about being on the late bus to get a bus pass instead of a tardy to school. It bothered me a lot afterwards. However, this week’s children’s meeting discussed Samuel and how he cooperated with his parents to fulfill God’s purpose. Like Samuel, I want to cooperate with the Lord this next week and just gain Him.

Hallelujah! We love the Lord!

Jehovah is my Shepherd; I will lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures; / He leads me beside waters of rest.

He restores my soul; / He guides me on the paths of righteousness / For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk / Through the valley of the shadow of death, / I do not fear evil, / For You are with me; / Your rod and Your staff, / They comfort me.

You spread a table before me / In the presence of my adversaries; / You anoint my head with oil; / My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me / All the days of my life, / And I will dwell in the house of Jehovah / For the length of my days.
